DPA Check is a free tool operated by Tally Digital. By using it you agree to these terms.

Indicative guidance only — not legal advice

DPA Check provides an indicative assessment of whether a location falls within a Designated Protected Area (DPA) under the Housing (Right to Enfranchise) (Designated Protected Areas) (England) Order 2009 (SI 2009/2098). It is not legal, financial, surveying or conveyancing advice, and does not create any professional relationship. Always take independent professional advice and confirm against the official sources before relying on a result for any decision or transaction.

Accuracy and limitations

• Results are matched at civil-parish level. For parishes designated only “by maps”, the precise boundary is defined by the official Homes England map — a parish-level match cannot tell you whether a specific plot falls inside or outside the designated area. Always check the official map, which we link on those results.
• Parish boundaries shown on the map are generalised polygons for context and are not legal boundaries.
• Designations and underlying data can change over time, and third-party lookup services can be unavailable or return imperfect data.
• The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Acceptable use

Please don’t misuse the service — for example by attempting to disrupt it, scrape it at scale, or use it unlawfully. We may rate-limit or withdraw access to protect the service.

Data & intellectual property

The tool draws on public-sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0, Homes England map references, and map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. Those sources remain subject to their own licences. The DPA Check name, design and code are owned by Tally Digital.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, the service or its results. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
